SULI has developed and is currently providing these much needed services for the senior residents of the community:

  • Transportation

We provide senior citizen transportation services for medical appointments, errands and minor trips around town.

  • Excursion

Social, recreational, educational and cultural programs are tailored to the interests and abilities of seniors. Trips are organized and run by volunteer leaders.

  • Health and Wellness services

A convenient way is provided for senior citizens to learn about the options available in their local community that support their changing needs. Seniors will have the opportunity to learn about available services that help promote wellness and healthy living. We are partners with JenCare, Humana, Virginia Wesleyan University and United Health Care. Our goal is to improve the physical, emotional, and social well-being of seniors.

  • Transitional Housing

SULI provides educational services and support to residents in achieving their personal and financial independence. Our seniors participate in a personal development plan. Follow-up services are provided for those transitioning to independent senior facilities, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

  • Food Pantry

Canned goods and other groceries are provided to persons in need of food assistance. With all that we do, there never seems to be enough time to devote to this critical function.

  • Computer Classes

Seniors are taught the basics on email, social networking functions, cyber security and how to utilize the Internet.

  • Budgeting and Financial Classes

These classes not only increase Seniors knowledge of money management but build awareness of scams, identity theft and fraud. Seniors also become more knowledgeable about credit scores, credit disputes, financial assistance programs and saving up for a rainy day.

  • Workshops on Safety and Identity Theft

This workshop teaches seniors how to protect themselves from identity theft. They learn about the various kinds of identity theft and steps to take if their identity is stolen. These workshops are offered to increase awareness about the significant damage that results from their various activities.

  • Family Workshops

As our seniors advance in age, they require more attention and assistance. We provide information, counseling, and assistance to seniors and their families to address the specific needs of elderly adults. We believe it is important to offer support, a variety of programs, and activities to enhance the lives of our community’s elderly residents.
